Smart Fit if I’m honest! For me it was a place to challenge myself surrounded by inspirationally fit people that (for the most part) became my friends too! Personally it was the first time I have ever totally committed to exercise in a long time. Every week was different and it never got boring. So I’ve completed the 10 week Summer Transformation challenge with Dave Bovey. It has been a challenge. I found the nutrition initially the hardest part and I could not commit to completely giving up alcohol as I had some party nights planned (and they could not happen sober!). Then as time went on I got into a routine but the slog of 5 times a week at the gym was tough – I must admit I enjoyed all the 1:1 PT sessions and all the small group training sessions – they were really tough but fun and full of banter!

I am now a dress size (or 2) smaller, 6.5cm off my waist, 5 cm off my hips and feeling stronger (physically and mentally), more confident, better posture, my menopausal symptoms have near-enough disappeared and I will wear bikinis on holiday!! Who knew I would enjoy spending time in the big boys’ weights area!!

Thank you Dave for your commitment, tailoring sessions to suit me and totally “getting me” and not giving up on me.

Smart-Fit has developed a unique program to help you cope with the day to day stresses and manage your time more effectively so that you can lead a more balanced life. I created Smart Fit as I was frustrated seeing so many struggle to lose weight and tone up when everything they have tried has left them feeling more stressed out or deflated from a lack of results. Despite joining slimming clubs, following many diets or joining bootcamps they struggle to see long term meaningful results or find it hard to make time to fit their exercise into their busy day.

My name is David Bovey and for the last 7 years since leaving the army I have helped hundreds feel happier in themselves by getting fitter, stronger, more toned and feeling more like they used too.

I have a passion for fitness, exercise and mental wellbeing.


My background in the armed forces has led me to understand how important it is to have the right mindset, an effective training strategy and sustainable lifestyle habits that allow you to juggle the pressures of work, family and social pressures while staying in great shape.


Smart fit coaching focuses on helping you unlock your full potential, so that you can maximise your performance and achieve more than you think you can. I understand just how difficult it can be when you have a high pressure job, busy family life, and demanding social life yet still want to look after your health and wellbeing.


We focus on making sure you are consistently taking simple actions that will lead to positive change in your everyday health and wellbeing.
